Hengshui Zhanhe Engineering Rubber Co., Ltd. supplies elastomeric bridge bearing and related engineering rubber products to contractors, distributors and infrastructure projects worldwide. A laminated pad placed between the girder and the pier. It carries the vertical load, lets the deck move with temperature, and absorbs end rotation through uneven compression of the rubber layers.
This article explains the working principle, main types, typical applications, installation points, selection criteria, standards and frequently asked questions about elastomeric bridge bearing, and is intended for engineers, purchasers and project managers.
A laminated pad placed between the girder and the pier. It carries the vertical load, lets the deck move with temperature, and absorbs end rotation through uneven compression of the rubber layers.
Working principle: The product works through elastic deformation and mechanical interlock to provide reliable sealing or load transfer.
Elastomeric Bridge Bearing is manufactured and inspected according to applicable national and industry standards. Hengshui Zhanhe Engineering Rubber Co., Ltd. carries out batch inspection before delivery, and inspection certificates together with third-party test reports (where required by the project) can be provided.
Typical standards applied to this product family include Chinese national and transportation industry standards; equivalent international standards can be referenced upon request.
A: A slight, even bulge is a normal response to compression. If one side bulges noticeably more than the other, it usually indicates eccentric loading or loss of contact, and the pedestal flatness and girder soffit should be checked.
A: Shear deformation is normally limited to 0.7 of the total rubber thickness. A bearing with 42 mm of rubber allows roughly 29 mm of movement. Beyond that, increase the rubber thickness or use a PTFE sliding type.
A: The pad works by full-surface contact. An uneven pedestal causes local overstress and loss of contact elsewhere, and the unloaded part can tear and expose the plates under repeated traffic loading.
A: Verify type and certificate, inspect for cracks, blisters and exposed plates, and measure dimensional deviations. For important projects take samples for compressive modulus, shear modulus and ultimate compressive strength.
Cost is governed by compound volume (plan size times height), the number of reinforcing plates, whether a PTFE sliding pair is fitted, and whether a cold-resistant compound is specified. A common GJZ 200x300x42 pad is generally quoted between 200 and 500 yuan each. PTFE types add the sliding plate and stainless counter-face, and cold-grade compounds also carry a premium. Volume orders can be quoted by total piece count or tonnage.
