A: That can be within normal limits. Skinning takes up to three hours at 25 C and 50 percent relative humidity and depth builds at roughly two to four millimetres per day. Drop the temperature by about ten degrees and the timings roughly double.
A: Limit single passes to about 15 mm. Deeper joints should be built up in two layers once the first has skinned, otherwise the surface skins before internal moisture escapes and bubbles form.
A: Better not. High moisture content triggers premature reaction at the interface, which causes bubbles and weak adhesion. Wait until the concrete has cured and dried, or switch to a product formulated for damp substrates.
A: Work from the cross section. A joint 20 mm wide and 10 mm deep takes about 200 ml per metre, so a 600 ml sausage covers roughly three metres in theory and around 2.7 metres allowing normal waste.
